Global particle balance gives insight into the exchanges of particles between the wall and the plasma leading to a better understanding of the plasma density behaviour. In addition, it gives access to the evolution of the wall particle inventory, which is crucial in the tritium experiments as demonstrated in the D-T campaign on JET in 1997-1998.
